What is Sound Therapy?

At a cellular level, we are 70% water. As the vibrations of the Gong, Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls pass over our body (which is why it is commonly known as a sound bath), our brainwaves shift from Beta to Theta, and sometimes, if we go deep enough, to Delta. Our normal waking consciousness corresponds to the Beta state, which is our brain emitting waves between 13-30 Hertz. The feeling of relaxation and concentration is linked to the Alphastate, which sends waves between 8-13 Hertz. Then we go into Theta state (5-7 Hertz), which is associated with Rapid Eye Movement and the release of muscular spasms and energetic blockages. Delta state (0.5-4 Hertz) can also be achieved through prolonged playing of the singing bowls, emitting extremely low vibrations associated with deep sleep and other unconscious states.

As the brainwaves shift, so does the nervous system.  Just as with a sit meditation, sound therapy shifts you into the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system- the place of healing and restoration for the body.

In just 45 minutes, our bodies go through these different brain states leaving you feeling more relaxed, and fully rejuvenated. Common experiences during our sound sessions are seeing vibrant colors, a physical release of aches and pains, emotional releases, connecting with a higher consciousness, feeling “floaty,” communicating with deceased loved ones, and a great sense of peace and relaxation.
